Tips For Making Homemade Air Fryer Buttermilk Biscuits

Making homemade air fryer buttermilk biscuits is a delicious and fun activity that can yield impressive results. Here are some tips to help you make the best flaky biscuits:

  • Start with cold ingredients: Use cold butter and cold buttermilk, as this will help create flaky layers in your biscuits.
  • Use good flour: Use high-quality, all-purpose unbleached flour for the best results.
  • Mix the dough until just combined: Over-mixing the dough can result in tough biscuits. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined, and then stop.
  • Roll out the dough to the right thickness: Roll it out to about 1/2 inch before cutting it into biscuits. This thickness will ensure that the biscuits rise correctly.
  • Cut the biscuits with a sharp cutter: Use a sharp biscuit cutter to cut biscuits into rounds or disc shape. This will help the biscuits rise and have an excellent shape.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter: Before cooking, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter. This will help them brown and give them a delicious flavor.
  • Cook in batches: Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the biscuits in batches. Don’t overcrowd the basket, as this can result in uneven cooking.
  • Check for doneness: They should be golden brown on the outside and cooked through on the inside.

How To Store Leftover Biscuits

If you have leftover biscuits, there are a few things you can do to help keep them fresh; this is an easy recipe that you can make ahead of time and store.

  • Store them in an airtight container: After the biscuits cool to room temperature, place them in an airtight container, such as a Tupperware container or a resealable plastic bag. This will help prevent air and moisture from getting in, which can cause the biscuits to become stale.
  • Refrigerate for up to 3 days: Biscuits can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Make sure they are completely cooled before placing them in the fridge.
  • Freezing: Freeze for longer storage: Biscuits can also be frozen for longer storage. Place the biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and then place them into the freezer until frozen solid.  Then remove them and place them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly with aluminum foil, and then place them in a freezer bag and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months.
