The Best Pears for Cooking

First of all, I love cooking with ripe pears. They are an excellent fruit for baking, and they make a delicious pear sauce that’s perfect on ice cream or as a topping for pancakes or waffles.

So, what type should you use for this baked pears recipe? There are many options out there, but the best one to cook with is Bartlett Pears because they’re easy to peel and have a sweet taste.

The best pears for cooking are the ones that have a firm but not too hard texture. They should be ripe and sweet, but not overly so, to hold up when cooked. Look out for the following varieties:

  • Bartlett
  • Bosc Pears
  • Red Anjou Pears
  • Comice
  • Seckel

How To Cut Pears

The pear is one of the best fruits to eat when in season. It’s sweet and crunchy and can even be sliced into desserts or eaten with cheese. However, it can sometimes be difficult to slice them evenly without making a mess.

To perfectly slice the fruit for this air fryer pear recipe, cut lengthwise with a paring knife. Then use a spoon or melon baller to scoop out the middle of the pear.

How To Serve Air Fried Pears

This baked pears recipe makes a simple dessert that is perfect for those who love baked fruit. What makes them so great? They can be served with ice cream, whipped cream, honey, or one of my favorite toppings:

  • Coconut Flakes
  • A scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Drizzle of Honey
  • Greek Yogurt
  • Cinnamon Sugar
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • Vegan Butter
  • Coconut Sugar
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Chocolate Sauce
  • Sprinkle Of Granola

Should I Peel The Pears Before Adding Them To The Air Fryer?

It’s all a matter of personal preference. I leave the skin on when making my air fryer baked pears recipe, as I think the skin adds both flavor and texture. It also helps to hold the fruit together as it bakes!

If you do decide to peel your pears, make sure to do so before adding them to the air fryer basket.

Why Are My Air Fryer Pears So Mushy?

You need to keep a close eye on the temperature and cooking time. Don’t leave your air fried pears in the basket for more than 10 minutes, and be sure to keep the temperature at 370 degrees F.

Pierce the fruit with a fork to determine whether your air fryer pear recipe is done. If they’re still firm, leave them in for a few more minutes. If they’re nice and soft, they’re ready!
