Air Fryer Spicy Garlic Roasted Chickpeas--There is nothing better for a healthy snack, and a real budget snack than roasted chickpeas.

If you have not tried them they are a great addition to anything from salads to soups.  They are also a great source of protein for vegetarians. My kids like to pop them into their mouths by the handfuls since they give you that crispy roasted texture, you sometimes crave.

If you have not made them yet in your air fryer, the best tip I can give you is that they can be seasoned with anything. And, I mean anything.

What Are Chickpeas?

Chickpeas are a type of legume that is high in protein, fiber, and essential vitamins and minerals. They can be used in a variety of dishes, from salads to soups to stews. Chickpeas are also a good source of iron, magnesium, and phosphorus. If you’re looking for a nutritious and versatile ingredient to add to your cooking repertoire, look no further than chickpeas!

Are Chickpeas Keto?

The keto diet has been gaining in popularity in recent years, and for good reason. This high-fat, low-carbohydrate way of eating has been shown to lead to weight loss, increased energy levels, and improved mental clarity. However, those on the keto diet must be careful to limit their intake of carbs, as even a small amount can throw them out of ketosis. This begs the question: are chickpeas keto?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Chickpeas are a type of legume, and as such, they are relatively high in carbohydrates. One cup of chickpeas contains around 39 grams of carbs, which is significantly more than the 5-10 grams that are typically allowed on the keto diet. However, there are some ways to work around this. For example, you could try using chickpea flour instead of regular flour when baking. Chickpea flour is much lower in carbs, with only 6 grams per cup. Alternatively, you could enjoy a small portion of chickpeas as part of a bigger dish; this way, you’ll still get the flavor and satisfaction without overdoing it on the carbs.

Tips For The Best Air Fried Chickpeas

  • They are best eaten on the same day. They will start to become soft if you let them sit around for too long.
  • If you are not going to eat them on the same day you make them, place them in a sealed Ziploc bag or an airtight container, to preserve the freshness.
  • Do not refrigerate them, just leave them on your counter or in your pantry.
  • I always add some extra seasonings after they air fry.
