How To Make Air Fryer Jelly Filled Donuts

overhead: biscuits in air fryer basket for jelly donuts

Step 1: Prepare the biscuits

Layout the buttermilk biscuits. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray so they don’t stick, then place the biscuits into the air fryer basket.

Air fry for 7 minutes at 350 degrees F, air fryer setting.

Step 2: Make the cinnamon sugar coating

While the donuts are air frying, add the sugar and cinnamon to a small bowl and mix.

In another small bowl, place the butter and microwave until it’s melted.

Step 3: Assemble the filled donuts

Fill your injector up with strawberry jelly. I mixed mine in a small bowl until it was loosened, as it was easier to work with.

As the donuts come out of the air fryer, roll them in the butter, then the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Use the injector to fill the donuts with jelly.

Can I use Flaky Layer Biscuits In This Recipe?

You can if that’s all you can find, but I would strongly recommend using a regular biscuit for my jelly donuts recipe. As you fill the donuts with the jam, the flaky layers will come apart. So, for this recipe, reach for the regular biscuits.

What Kind of Jelly Is Used in Jelly Donuts?

You can use any of your favorite jams or preserves for this recipe. I used strawberry jam, which is my son’s favorite.

My other son’s favorite jelly donut uses raspberry preserves because he loves the jelly donuts at Dunkin’, although those donuts are made with a blend of apple and raspberry jelly filling. Feel free to use your own favorite, or whatever you have on hand!

Do I Really Need An Injector to Fill Jelly Donuts?

No, but if you are going to make these repeatedly, it’s best to have the best tools on hand for the job!

In the past, I’ve filled a Ziploc bag with strawberry jam and then cut the tip off to make filled donuts.

How to Turn This Jelly Donuts Recipe Into Air Fryer Sufganiyot

If you’re unfamiliar with Sufganiyot, it’s a Jewish jelly donut that’s typically served at Hanukkah.

To use this recipe, you can replace the cinnamon sugar coating with powdered sugar instead.
