I am not going to say that I am in love with this recipe because I have been saying that a lot. But, now I’m just going to say that both of my children, loved this recipe.
I loved being able to serve them one of their favorite meals, without adding the white cheese mixture, and if you are a mom you know, exactly what I am talking about.
This is a better recipe for more than the elimination of the white package, it’s nice to serve something with real ingredients. It’s also a great thing because you are adding a protein into the mix, which is a great completion for an entire meal.
Start by laying out the kielbasa, and then cutting it into slices. Heat up the oil, by pressing the saute’ button
Transfer the cooked sausage to a plate.Add the pasta to the Instant Pot.
To prevent pasta from drying out, make sure that the water line is over the pasta.
Continue to stir, until everything is melted, then add back the kielbasa.
Kitchen Items Used:
Don’t Forget to Pin:
Pressure Cooker, Instant Pot Macaroni and Cheese With Grilled Kielbasa (Sausage)
- 1 pound kielbasa (cut into 1/4 inch slices)
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 pound uncooked pasta (any type)
- 4 cups water
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 12 ounces evaporated milk
- 16 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 ounces Jack cheese, shredded
Start by adding the oil to your Instant Pot, and then press the saute' button.
Give it about 30 seconds for the oil to heat up, then add your sliced kielbasa, and saute' them until they are browned on all sides. Once, the sausage is browned, remove it from the Instant Pot, and place on a plate, to mix in back later.
Then add your macaroni, water, and spices to the Instant pot bow, mix well.
Add your lid, locking it into place, and make sure that the setting is in the sealed position. Set the manual high pressure for 3 minutes.
Once, the time is up (my Instant Pot beeps) do a quick release.
When and only when all of the pressure has been released (it is very dangerous to open the lid before the pressure has been completely gone, and the pin has dropped)
Then mix in the evaporated milk, cheese, continue to mix until everything is well combined.
(If you need additional heat, just press the saute' button, while you are mixing it in,, then turn off, so nothing gets burnt)
Then mix in the sausage, prior to serving. Plate, serve and enjoy!
