I try hard to get the kids involved with Christmas, either by baking, crafting or doing good deeds.
I usually try to have the kids craft items and give them to their friend’s parents or neighbors.
Today’s Ornament is:
Homemade Mason Jar Ornament
Mason jar lid and screw ring (Amazon has really cute ones that are Red)
Glue gun or Fabric Glue ( I did mine with fabric glue, so the kids could do the craft mostly by themselves)
Image/Cutout/Sticker to place in the center of the ornament (These are actually hard to find at stores, I ended up ordering my from Amazon)
I bought a sample pack of the flannel material. For two reasons, it allows the kids to pick there own and it provides a variety of ornaments for the tree.
Cut enough fabric to wrap it around the lid part. (NOT the part that screws into the jar)
Glue (Hot Glue Gun works best, but fabric glue works too)
Remember to use enough glue to secure each side and cut off any additional fabric (be careful not to cut too much on top though, or it will show)
Then reassemble making sure it will stay in, and there is no excess fabric, if there is, just cut off.
Then add the twine. My son wanted to tie his into a bow and since it’s his craft, I let him do it. I think it came out nice, what do you think? If you want to make it more professional looking you could add a hole in the fabric and put the twine through the hole.
Glue on the fabric cut wood object you selected and your are finished.
